“Déesses” Collection

déesse, French feminine noun

= goddess; A female divinity

The “Déesses” collection was made during my last year of college in Toronto (2019-2020) as my final school project.

Ever since childhood, I have always been inspired by the tales and legends of the different mythologies worldwide. These stories, which tell of universal values of love, courage and life, have fascinated me and opened my imagination and creativity. As an adult woman, I have rediscovered these stories during my travels, especially the feminine myths. I wanted to pay tribute to all these incredible women who inspire me so much with this collection. I want to honour Femininity by celebrating all of its unique facets through jewellery that will give every one of us the strength to express our own inner powers as goddesses.

Hathor’s Ring

Inspired by the ancient Egyptian goddess of love and joy, this ring incorporates a beautiful red tourmaline symbol of force, vitality and passion for symbolizing the cheerful nature of the deity. Hathor is a powerful goddess, protector of the dead and gatekeeper between the land of the living and the sky. She is also associated with fertility as she is often depicted as a cow holding a solar disk in her horns. I wanted to embody the goddess's characteristics (the horns and the disk) and design elements from Egyptian architecture (wall ornaments and columns) in this ring.

I chose an Egyptian goddess because I lived in Egypt as a baby so I grew up surrounded by Egyptian myths and culture.

Gaia’s Brooch

Inspired by the ancestral Greek Earth goddess and Mother of all life, this brooch emphasizes the rough side of nature, illustrated by the goddess laying down as her form creates the landscape.
The gold elements were inspired by the colour of autumn leaves to represent the changing cycles of nature.

When I was a kid, my parents bought me a book about Greek mythology. I loved that book and
I suppose this is where my interest in ancient mythologies started.

Oshun’s Necklace

This necklace honours the Yoruban goddess Oshun worshipped by the people of West Africa, especially in Nigeria. She is the goddess of love, sensuality and femininity and a powerful Orisha, a river deity associated with fertility and positivity. She is the protector of the Osun River in Nigeria, which bears her name. The necklace highlights Oshun's cheerful side through the golden flowers and her attributes through the blue colour of the beads.

I chose a Nigerian goddess because my family lived in Nigeria for a few years. I had the chance to visit this vibrant country and was an unforgettable memory for me.
